Secure, Compliant… but Will Anyone Use It?

AI Summit Brainport 2026

We pour everything into building safely with AI: security, privacy, compliance. All technical, all necessary. And in this rush we neglect the one thing that sits at the heart of why we build anything at all: the people using it. This talk starts where good AI should start, with the human perspective, and shows how to make what AI builds faster and better instead of just faster.

What I talk about

AI Design Systems

With AI, you build ten times faster, and ten times faster junk. How your design system becomes the source of truth that people and AI agents share, so everything AI builds stays on brand, accessible and consistent.

Human-centred AI

Most AI projects do not fail on technology, they fail on adoption. Look first, then climb: the questions to ask before you build, and how to design AI that feels like collaboration instead of an oracle.

Accessibility as organisational change

Accessibility is not just a designer task or a checklist. Lessons from championing digital accessibility at NS (Dutch Railways), mapped onto the five stages an organisation goes through before it truly embraces access.

About

Most technology doesn't fail on tech. It fails on people.

Over a decade in UX and software taught me one thing: "it works" is not the same as "people can work with it". That conviction runs through everything, from championing digital accessibility at NS to building AI Design Systems at FIDDS today.
